Context-dependent similarity

چکیده

Numerical similarity measures are used to de scribe the relative ranks of the similarity of ob jects or cases in many artificial intelligent systems. These measures are usually absolute and context independent. On the other hand, humans perceive context-dependent similarity. That is, the ranking of similarity between pairs of objects is varying under a changing context. We consider this problem as the construction of numerical formulas that satisfy cer tain axioms and criteria. An entropy-related formula is proposed and its implementation in a changing environment is considered. A demonstration of this formula on a well-known context-dependent similar ity assessment is given.

Context-Dependent Data Envelopment Analysis-Measuring Attractiveness and Progress with Interval Data

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a method for recognizing the efficient frontier of decision making units (DMUs).This paper presents a Context-dependent DEA which uses the interval inputs and outputs. Context-dependent approach with interval inputs and outputs can consider a set of DMUs against the special context. Each context shows an efficient frontier including DMUs in particular l...

Using Context Dependent Semantic Similarity to Browse Information Resources: an Application for the Industrial Design

This paper deals with the semantic interpretation of information resources (e.g., images, videos, 3D models). We present a case study of an approach based on semantic and context dependent similarity applied to the industrial design. Different application contexts are considered and modelled to browse a repository of 3D digital objects according to different perspectives. The paper briefly summ...

Improved Bayesian Training for Context-Dependent Modeling in Continuous Persian Speech Recognition

Context-dependent modeling is a widely used technique for better phone modeling in continuous speech recognition. While different types of context-dependent models have been used, triphones have been known as the most effective ones. In this paper, a Maximum a Posteriori (MAP) estimation approach has been used to estimate the parameters of the untied triphone model set used in data-driven clust...

The generalized context model: an exemplar model of classification

According to the generalized context model (GCM) (Nosofsky, 1986 ), people represent categories by storing individual exemplars (or examples) in memory, and classify objects based on their similarity to these stored exemplars. For example, the model assumes that people represent the category of ‘birds’ by storing in memory the vast collection of different sparrows, robins, eagles, ostriches (an...

بررسی نقش انواع بافتار هم‌نویسه‌ها در تعیین شباهت بین مدارک

Aim: Automatic information retrieval is based on the assumption that texts contain content or structural elements that can be used in word sense disambiguation and thereby improving the effectiveness of the results retrieved. Homographs are among the words requiring sense disambiguation. Depending on their roles and positions in texts, homograph contexts could be divided to different types, wit...
